Alzheimer’s Unit
Golden Empire Nursing & Rehab Center has been providing quality nursing care in Nevada County for over 40 years. Due to the increase in Alzheimer's Disease and other related dementias and the fact that these residents require a very different environment and care, we added a specialized unit to care for these individuals. Not only is the physical environment designed to minimize confusion for the residents, but the care is specifically geared to their individual needs.
The Staff
The unit is staffed with specially trained Registered Nurses, Licensed
Vocational Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants who work closely with
other staff members such as Therapists, Activities and Social Service
personnel, Psychiatrist Dr. Helen Crawford, M.D., and our Medical
Director, Dr. Christopher Claydon, M.D., who is available 24 hours a
day.
Progress Evaluation
Activities are individualized for each resident according to their abilities. Each resident is evaluated on an ongoing basis by an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals such as a Psychiatrist, Pharmacologist, Physical Therapist, Social Service and Activities personnel, Licensed Nurse, Medical Director, and the resident’s individual physician. Once a plan has been developed, it becomes the road map guiding the daily decisions concerning each resident. This helps create the best possible physical and emotional environment.
